Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Safety my a**

All of the safety stuff this company promotes is so fake. “Hold the handrail” “being in the office promotes culture of safety”. Driving to the office is probably the most unsafe given most of us take 45. And what about the email we just got about the COVID-19 update? Do you guys actually think the unvaxxed will wear a mask?

It is not pampering…Employers have a general duty under OSHA to provide a safe workplace for employees, which include company policies regarding masks and social distancing. There are a lot of people who don’t feel safe. This also affects mental health and productivity.

@OP The word “safety” is corporate doublespeak for “liability”. The only thing any corporation (EM included) really cares about is being sued. That’s why you’re holding the handrail.

In fact, a major part of the reason why people with glowing professional credentials are hired on and end up doing almost nothing of value is to reduce liabilities. Red tape makes the world go ‘round.

Yeah, what safety? Even parts of SSHE is being MSPd. So even safety will not get same undivided attention from now on.

Worrying about safety on the Houston campus. A laugh.
When you realize the cost-cutting and scrimping currently going on in Operating Facilities around the US and Globe. Safety is just a buy-word there also.
Blevee on the levee.
SOtooOh4.
Just wait for the next embarrassment - it won't be in Houston.
Satisfying safety - 5 layers of subsidized cheese.

Extremely disappointed in the email that was sent. No difference than how we have been operating since mid July. The unvaccinated have not and will not wear masks and there is no way to know who they are. I am going work from home. I have kids <12 and a cancer patient in my household and I don’t feel safe going to campus since breakthrough infections are now known to be common. If we were all required to do social distance and wear mask, I will go back to the campus.

I agree. The solution is simple. If you are unvaccinated you should be required to work from home. If that impacts your next PADP cycle too bad!

This is COVID denial at its’ finest. Can’t interfere with the restock of the campus. Only the vaccinated will wear masks.

We suck beyond belief!!

Hasn't the guidance been unvaccinated should wear a mask? I don't see how the guidance is any different than the guidance for when we returned to campus.
