You know when your boss makes comments like "I don't want you to fail" or "Build this project task out so you can use it as a future skill" and the best is.... "Can you get this done by this Thursday?" are all signs of the direction you are going.... Just grow a pair and come out and say it..... "We no longer need your position!" Then they send my position (yes the one they no longer need) to someone in another country so they can pay them less. Keep in mind your taxes that you pay into at work, pay for the unemployment tax... .LMFAO at the beach!

That is normally how it's done. There is a Whistle Blower Lawsuit that busted the fraud at this company wide open! I saw too many "older" employees let go after many years. Always keep a journal, print off evidence and File a Federal Lawsuit! Payback!
Sounds highly suspicious behavior to me. Has this always been that way or is it a recent change? I would definitely pack a to go bag so your prepared if it happens.
I don't even see how there's even a discussion let a lone a date for layoffs? Things are opening back up and companies are paying new employees a sign on bonus?
You do not get to decide when you "climb the corporate ladder" at your job. It is always up to them to decide when you move up to fulfill some sort of need or requirement THEY have. You can work your tail off DAY AND NIGHT, but you will NOT get that promotion unless they need you to do even more work. I am in Silicon Valley and for anyone reading this - just know that it is NOT a meritocacy-never was-it was typical US propaganda - and the only "freedom" you have is to change to yet another American junk job; but if you can work TWO, or THREE jobs, then go for it. That's the US ian way! You are getting paid to fulfill a SPECIFIC need and not to be at their "beck and call" to fulfill EVERY need, which is a mistake I see many NEW, YOUNGER workers do and what I was guilty of doing also.
