I was surprised that I was able to find a new job in 2 weeks. I don't think it's wise to wait until the last day for Cisco to say you're not needed here anymore. The situation is much better now on the job market, but the question is how long will this momentum last?

I could care less about bookings. Fire a few useless acquisition execs lingering in the shadows making god knows how much. That’d put us right back in the black.
History says this is about as good as it gets for Cisco.
Chuck has been able to “manage” the bookings and revenue over the past year to make you think there’s growth now. clamp down on bookings last year because with covid you get a free pass. Now voila growth this year. Go back 2 years ago and revenue is less. The SW growth story is also smoke and mirrors. You used to sell switch+sw combined for $10,000 and you called that all hardware. Now you sell switch for $5,000 and SW subscription for $3,000 so you can show “software” subscription revenue. You make less money over the lifetime, but it looks like you’re growing software revenue. Genius.
Be ready over the next year for the catch up/payback phase of “managing” the business.
The company is doing better than ever with the highest growth in over a decade and the biggest quarter in the history of the company. I don't want to leave!
Do what alot of other people are doing. Find and start the new job and work both until you get jettisoned with the golden parachute.
