When you realize you are stumbling, when you start relying on Sycophantic Consultants, sociological gimmicks, fashion, you get paranoid, "The Emperor truly has no clothes", at all, anymore.

A week off, mandated vacancies, is a great time to examine the physical space, search for bugs, and install a new type of surveillance network.

@1mpg agree 100%

But I am curious if the "participation trophy" generation will make a difference....

But I believe no matter how much people think they are woke....they wont' follow a loser for long.

That article should be required reading for everyone at Nike.

Nike was built on so-called “toxic masculinity”, no matter how much that offends the easily offended (which seems to be most people these days). While that does not excuse some of the behavior that went on within the company in past years, the fact remains that Nike is currently ki----g its own culture - and eventually its place in the market - by trying to become a woke version of the former company. It ain’t gonna work because those two ideas aren’t compatible. “Aggressive, in your face, I’m going to beat my competitor into the ground and sp-t on his grave” is not compatible with the cynical woke direction Nike has taken.

These days Nike should change its slogan to “Just do it…but in a diverse, equitable and socially just way while ensuring no one’s precious feelings have been hurt.” Catchy and inspiring, isn’t it???

Those Euro Cup ads were an embarrassing example of how Nike has lost its edge. The public and the marketing media noticed too as evidenced by the largely negative reactions those ads received. Nike would have been equally well-served by just displaying a static message on the screen which read “Nike is now woke. So give us your money.”

The “Kinder, gentler Nike” isn’t Nike at all. As that article states Nike’s sheer market reach will protect it for awhile but eventually Nike selling out on its founding philosophy will come back to haunt the brand.

Brilliant article about how Nike has lost it's edge especially in the way it markets itself. The company is a giant for now, so it can glide along for awhile, still making lots of money. But in the end, Nike has lost touch with athletes just like adidas did in the early 70s, and it is ripe for losing the cool factor and getting overtaken by an upstart.
