United Airlines begins move to fire workers who refused COVID vaccine

United Airlines has begun moving to dismiss workers who aren't vaccinated against COVID-19, the company said Tuesday. In a memo, United said more than 99% of its employees have received their coronavirus shots but that for the 593 employees who "chose not to comply" with its mandate (fewer than 1%), the company has "started the process to separate them from the company."

It's starting to get real for those that refuse the Covid vaccine.

Beyond the propaganda posted here by a single troll:
"3% of the company’s 67,000 U.S. employees requested religious or medical exemptions, including about 330 pilots. The deadline has pushed back after employees filed a lawsuit against the airline alleging it failed to provide reasonable accommodations for employees seeking religious and medical exemptions."

Most companies know this is a legal minefield and are waiting to see what happens. The personal lawsuits are just getting started -- not counting the 24 states lining up to go to SCOTUS!

@iqz: United Airlines put the vaccine mandate in place as a requirement for continued employment and 99% of the employees have complied. Honeywell has not put a similar mandate in place. It's just a news article.

So 99% of us at Honeywell will likely also comply? Wonder why it's taking them so long to make it mandatory. You'd think if they really cared about our safety they'd move quickly to make this happen. Nah....gotta make the Q3 numbers. We'll get to this next week.

It's interesting about the 99% compliance when employee's livelihoods are in jeopardy. We'll see what happens as this is enacted at other companies.
