Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Things are not as they seem

Do people on the outside still consider XOM to be one of the better companies to work for? So many are still applying for jobs that it makes me think somehow XOM has managed to keep its reputation as one of the best employers in O&G intact despite everything that's been happening (layoffs, pay cuts, reductions in benefits, PIPS...) I bet everybody who's so happy to start working here receives quite a shock within their first month on the job.

Nobody under the age of 50 considers XOM or any other O&G company to be good places to work. Listing the the reasons for this would be a waste of bandwidth, since they’ve all been stated elsewhere.

If XOM offered me a job I’d take it and quit within three years just to get it on my CV. I would never commit to them or any other O&G company long term.

Anybody who joins Exxon and doesn't do his/her due diligence deserves what he/she gets.
