Thread regarding CVS layoffs

The ostrich effect and the exodus

Feel free to “cascade” to every employee you know and feel free to comment and add to this post .

Our company has been overworking us in the last 19 months. They expect us to fill scripts, outreach calls, covid tests, covid vaccines, clinics outside the stores with a priority to clean the queues with wecare being their number one priority nowadays having 1 pharmacist with 1 or 2 technicians max in the building expecting also to have the best customer service when you have lines at the drive through, pick up and drop off and the phone calls never stop.

For managers, they installed the ACO that breaks down daily slashing the hours, expecting carepass when they are alone most of the days, waiting on customers, and expecting them to complete the daily tasks from CFR functions to put the truck away with 1 person on hand and ask them to work on their days off put as a “ suggestion” to recruit for their store.

In addition, we need to write action plans and attend weekly Webex meetings on our days off and asking us to do more and more daily ignoring the main issue in all stores which is staffing . We claim it is a nationwide issue but the fact is worse here since no one wants to admit that the reason for not having people in the building is the reputation CVS has where all the talented employees were driven out and are poached by other companies that for real “walk the talk” when it comes to quality of life.

The hiring center is a huge failure who can not get their ducks in order taking weeks to get someone to answer an email and leaving new candidates in limbo quitting before they even start.

I will be missing the retail conference call this coming fall and hearing about the fairy tales since the best we came up last year was the new red uniforms and the no ties for males dress code instead of providing solutions on how we must hold every department accountable to really support the stores and not “Call your DL” the generic answer everyone uses going in circles and days to fix a matter.

While our leadership keeps hiding their heads in the sand, the exodus progressively continues with many stores closing early in many markets, people quitting every day in every district where money is the least of their concerns. Linkedin and Indeed are indented daily with district leaders asking for candidates with huge bonuses but zero luck.

Today is my last day after 8 years with CVS accepting a job with few defined priorities with way less money but more time with my family. At 9 PM tonight I am free at last !

Leaving was the best thing I did after 14 years. After Tom left and Larry took over it was all about metrics and money not employees and customers. Doesn't seem like the new CEO has done much to assist you all...but I'm sure her bonus will look good.

As a newbie to this company all I can say is this is spot on. I have over 30 years of retail management experience and this is the most F’d up place I’ve ever worked. There is literally no help and doesn’t look like it’s coming anytime soon. I guess it’s the next man/woman up as long as the $$ keeps flowing in. 2 week notice….

The clueless gutless DL’s and RL’s are a big part of the problem. They couldn’t run a store or RX in this environment. Come on DL’s chime in with your witty one liners now then send out a harrassing text message to your “team” oh yes thats right its not a “team” if you don’t even know their names. Get a clue you horrific “leaders”!

We have stores in my district that are open 10-6 daily, stores closed on Sundays and in a neighboring district only 6 managers with 14 stores. I've had reqs open for months and keep getting the same candidates who never respond to phone calls, even though I've contacted the hiring center about them. It's me and one full time supervisor and 2 part-timers to run a store and nobody at DL or higher level seems to care. No wonder the company is in a tailspin...
