Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Post-Thanksgiving retirement incentives

Despite the rumors, we all have been through this long enough to know that buyouts are always offered, usually last minute, and always off payroll by end of December.
This year seems the number will be lower for craft offers, but we all know some will be able to go.
A question: if you have the time, and life situation where you can go, will you do it?

35 years here on the wire pulling crew. Alimony, child support, Harley and boat payments keep me going. But I have millions and don't need to work so not sure what I am doing here waiting for a handout....

I'll be gone in half a heart beat. I'm 66 and was planning on retiring (no pension) in December anyway.

@1pkh+1d7EXRtK There is no doubt in my mind they are shipping the calls out. The calls dried up overnight. Which ever comes first, a buyout or back to office, I’m out!!

I am in an incoming call center and we are so slow that we are all offered a full day without pay every week for many months now - but no offers - not even the last one (with the off payroll by Sept 21) I was really surprised - maybe they are outsourcing calls or maybe they think its going to pick up - but at this rate they should offer part time or job share - thats how slow we are compared to years past - but to answer your question - I know some would leave if there were an offer but I am not one of them.

I’m a tech just putting in time till 23 to see if an offer comes. I’m sure that’s what the company is banking on.

Any buyout EISP offer is mailed out in October and off the payroll/books by late November/early December. They haven’t had a companywide offer for everyone in at least 3 or 4 years. Copper and cable technicians are being moved to Fios where there is plenty of work and they are the opposite of a surplus status & need people.

Hey, you never know but I seriously doubt it. There are usually rumors at this time of year but there doesn’t seem to be any this year
