I had a family emergency and I’m the only one that can take care of them. I put in a two week loa. First one ever and I always show for work past four and a half years. They called me yesterday and denied my loa and tried to bully me into coming in and I refused. Ive never applied for unemployment but I hope it’s accepted. This is complete bs!

Actually clubs can have a say so. I didn’t think it was possible but I had an email today from Sedgwick asking if I have approve a team members loa. It was weird and I’m short staffed but I approved it.
Manager do not have a say if u get a leave. U need to call Sedgwick or go on my Sedgwick.com. and honestly right now it seems as though Sedgwick r approving everything .
I did file through Sedgwick. Sedgwick told me my manager would need to approve it then it’d be accepted. Manager denied it.
Are you Part Time? You need to work a certain number of hours to qualify for FMLA.
In case you didn't understand what everyone wrote - YOU HAVE TO CALL SEDGWICK
Sedgwick used to send thru mail or you can do fmla on line. You will need a form filled out by the persons doctor.
You have to file for Loa through Sedgwick. They determine your eligibility not the club. Call Sedgwick and file with the beginning date of when you first went out. You can take a personal leave to care for a family member, again, all has to go through Sedgwick.
You don't get LOA through Sam's. You get it through Sedgwick. You file an FMLA if it is for immediate family medical needs. Such as parents, kids, spouse and I believe even grandparents. They may ask for documentation, but I am unsure what kind. But your club can't deny it, they have nothing to do with it. As for Sedgwick, they will if you select the right one and follow the process. They are impartial.
