Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

We are totally worthless to them

My great desire is to ask the top leaders, who supposedly care about our health ---- do they care what our health will be like if we are let go from here without the severance package, which we have well deserved through all the years of loyalty and hard work in this company??

A large publicy traded corporation will never have loyalty to the worker. It just doesn't make sense to and isn't in the DNA. The leaders answer to the CEO who answers to the Board who answer to the Shareholders who don't give a rats derriere about you or me. It is what it is. The leaders are expected to make money for the shareholders. Period. If you are in the way of that, off you go unless your direct management can make a business case for why you are worthy to be retained. In most cases, you are not that irreplaceable. I know it hurts to hear it.

so does my salary as a 7V really plug the ho-e of a $51M expense pressure?

No, but 1,000 people @ 50,000 or 500 people at 100,000 does plug that ho-e. From what I understand, the 10/28 RIF was fairly significant in size and scope.

I just got RIF'ed on the 28th of October. They told me it was a business decision due to expense budget pressures. I was pretty blindsided as I have never had a bad review. They said it wasn't performance based.. so does my salary as a 7V really plug the ho-e of a $51M expense pressure?.. Now, I am marked in the system as a RIF employee, which does not help in getting another job. I have mixed feelings about getting another internal job. Dont ever let anyone tell you they are looking out you at work. Take care of yourself. Loyalty should be a two way street.

If you think any corporation cares about its employees, you had better wake up. Maybe in a small company, they may care about you a little bit, but in large corporations, you’re just a cog.
Always do what’s best for you.

I can't wait for the lawsuits and watching the company vax pushers under oath and investigation when the smoke clears.

They don't care what happens to any of us. In my department, when a co-worker dies, they announce the passing and transition right into sales all in one breathe. They've never cared in the past and will never care. If anything happens to any of us they look at it as a savings, a savings with a weekly paycheck, a savings with medical and all other benefits. This is why I always say, take care of yourself first.

My problem as a V-teamer is that they talk like they care…..I don’t care that they don’t care….my beef is that they act like they do
