Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Who's failing to find a new job?

I think someone must have a very poor resume if now they can't find a better job than what they currently have at Belk. I'm really interested in the experiences of those who can't find a new job and are trying to get out of here? I got an offer right away, much faster than I had hoped.

I am still with belk and not enjoying it but I am checking out the other companies I have a chance to interveiw with to make sure it's not like belk or sycamore. I do not want to deal with the negativity either. Also I am considering a move to another area. So sometimes it not that we can't find another job but have other things to consider like insurance coverage and other things.

That’s my plan. Float job to job.
Don’t stick around to get sucked into the
negativity and BS.

I actually didn’t get get a single call or interview when I was applying for other retail jobs.
When I found some self-respect and remembered that I do have a working brain and many other skills, regardless of having never been paid for them, I found myself having plenty of interviews, to the point of being able to turn down offers.
Maybe it’s because Belk is poison in the retail world?

I’ll have the holidays off this year. And I won’t spend them shopping on Black Friday, I promise.

I'm actually having fun trying out different jobs-- they are out there. I've been through several since leaving the little "b" belk in 2020. I don't intend to stay with one company for more than a year (mostly much less) for variety. It's time to wind down and enjoy things. Even old people's like me can get decent jobs. I just don't like a lot of them and, I've discovered work stinks, anyway.

And I sure as fudge ain't gonna do hard labor like unloading trucks, anymore. 14 years+ was enough.

'Bout time for some enjoyment, whatever that is, right?!!

Maybe it’s not the resume but the interviewing skills.
Ya know like connecting with the public and having conversations to persuade. After all you’re selling product.
But then again retailers are desperate for a BODY in the store. Not much skill is needed.
