A colleague of mine who left, capable, a man with a lot of knowledge and skills, talented, always engaged, has now been replaced with a new hire that is the exact opposite. I’m glad when people get a chance to gain experience, but is it really possible for them to make such replacements? Looks like it's a new way of doing things around here?

A rule of mine is make your exit when all of the following happen:
- Talented people, known by all, with enviable fast-track careers leave.
- Benefits get removed.
- Something just feels "off" or your manager starts using the word "family" to describe work.
Didn't think I'd see all of these occur within a couple of short months when I joined here but it makes decisions a lot easier.
