Thread regarding CVS layoffs

The show goes on

Everyone thinks they are very important. In my opinion, this is the main source of all the frustrations here. A colleague who left still today calls and asks how things are without him. Things are as they were before, only a new person came in his place. And that's it.
I don’t want to sound like a spokesperson for this company, I’m also giving notice next week, but I don’t think the company will fail because of it. It's all just business as usual. The sooner we accept it, the better.

They are giving away SM, DL and DAPL positions. There was a time these positions required college degree and in-depth training. There was a time these were positions that were respected and the people who were in these positions were proud to say what they did and what company they worked for. In the last 10-15 years, right around the time Tom Ryan left and the Macy’s F ers’ took over we stopped training our store level teams. No more regional learning centers and coordinators. TSMs became just training exception police. No more mentoring. No more training. No more standards with candidate selection. The wheels were bound to come off. It was just a matter of time, but the job market being heavily in the employee’s favor pushed it quicker. If you do not invest in your people at the most entry-level this is what happens. I have 26 years in with this company and I am happy to say I am just weeks away from it being my last. Not only am I leaving, but I’m taking my years of business experience with me. I will be replaced there is no doubt. The store will open and close and life will go on. But it will take them years to replace my knowledge and the legacy of successful leaders I have left behind. Soon that will no longer be my problem. I would never call the store to see if things are OK with me gone, but I have to admit I will have a giant hard if I happen to hear they are falling on their face.

The new people are easier to work with than some of you “experienced” payroll whiners

Not entirely true what you said. The more people that leave the worse off things will get. This whole business as usual thing is what got CVS in this bad a shape. Corporate ignored all the problems and now it's become a crisis. You reap what you sow. Remember too, you can't just replace experienced people like nothing. The company is indeed in trouble in my opinion.
