My husband just got a job in April as a contractor. Rumors has it that there's going to be a lot of work and they're hiring contractors, so I hope there's going to be plenty of work!

Yes but the vast majority of Houston based BHP employees are either petroleum or functional support of petroleum.

With the merger of Petroleum, there will be no more Houston office, so anyone who is non-petroleum will have to relocate or get laid off.

My prediction is there will be significant layoffs in functional support staff (supply, compliance, IT, finance) as these roles are likely duplicated in the merger with Woodside. Many technical staff will remain and folded into Woodside.
