I don't care what they do so long as there is a job for me. I quit caring years ago and working my fingers to the bone. Nobody cares how hard you work anymore. It does nothing for you. All you have to do is act like you are with the new programs and you are good. Do a decent job without ki----g yourself and leave any of that sh*t at the door when you clock out everyday. They don't want thinkers anymore, just followers. If you are looking for a career then WFM is not the place for you. If you are looking for a paycheck then just play the game.

Post below, nope. Inventory management is going to be a leadership task. Order writers will become team receivers and inventory the product that comes in. Leadership will cut and submit orders already happing at my store.

That 2 post below had some really good thoughts. I know my team head regional TL has been saying for the last 3 years since OTS. That order writers are going to become more of a inventory management writer. But all that was some time ago and how everything is going to change in the coming years. I'm surprised you mention never-outs since it's not really part of the OTS check list we have stop replacing them for like 4 or 5 months now.

last reply was great! sounds like you know ur stuff.

Question: my store lost a lot of team members but the leadership (and god awful ASTL) are all still there. Is leadership around the country really leaving too? i keep hearing about it but i havent seen it. Thats who amazon should go after if they want to pinch pennys

since the layoffs or significant changes that have actually happened typically take a year or two full of "whispers" before they become reality, my guess is the SSS position will be phased out entirely after the holiday. ASTL's will be refocused into direct store scan/amazon support/SSS work. They have already said there are bit changes in-store for the new and improved CDASTL program after the holiday. the department order writer position is likely also the next to be "modified". something i was told directly from someone who would know is that order writers on perishable or non-perishable teams will no longer be responsible for their teams, but rather just perishable or non-perishable in general (e.g. "i am a perishable order writer" or "i am a non-perishable order writer").
i also think store process (formerly OTS) will be evolved into something solely focused on WFMOA. they have already put less emphasis on the importance of that program in exchange for Amazon short walk/PAM walk compliance and ensuring teams keep INFs low. the only real thing i see sticking around is the insane focus on never-outs.
i also think store support is going to take a huge hit, but not in a layoff direction. i think the main focus will be on self-checkout and no payment check-out (which they already use in Amazon stores). store support team members will be refocused into more direct customer service/Amazon returns/and Amazon shopper roles.
i dont see them rebranding. i also don't see them closing any stores. some stores you would think would be the first to go are actually slated for big buck remodels this coming year to usher them into this next wave.
whole foods isnt going anywhere. however, the company you knew from 10-15 years ago has been long dead. the company you knew 2 years ago is about to be taken off of life support. 2022/23 will bring a huge refocus of business which will still require team members, but just enough of them.

Speaking of TM's dropping like flies...Email from S.F Castro store today looking for bakery, grocery, store support AND produce ATL's. Relocation assistance offered. Wonder what happened there? I've seen several emails from that store over the last few months. Must be a total shitshow.

P.S. though we have teams in our metro uncombining.

They will eliminate ASTL's. So many are already leaving. The STL's will have to do their work plus their own.

Order writers will be gone, teams will be combined regardless if systems are in place or not so less team leaders, regions will combine less coordinators less rvps ELs and presidents, less cashiers w/ the infusion of self check outs. Turnover will be high because new metrics will be implemented and if you don’t meet them, the door will be waiting for you especially if you are high pay.

Welcome to Bezos world the cheapest man in the world. 2%-3% is nothing for astls who do from ringing registers to breaking pallets and all the other cr@p we have to take care of.

New name will come.

Our A/STL's already work the register for half their shift. That's why they are quitting the company in record numbers.

Our store is hiring like crazy. Problem is 9 out 10 people we hire ghost us soon after they are hired. Many before they even work a shift. The ones that do show up only last a month or two. Combine that with the fact that tons of experienced knowledgeable veterans are dropping like flies. We now have McDonald's levels of customer service.

honest question: who is left to layoff? LOL
the next step is making managers/regional people work the floor (which i think the new culture compass talks about) hahahaha what a disaster

I predict that Whole Foods will have a new name between 2022 and 2023. This is not based on the chatter, news rumors just my spidey senses.
