Thread regarding SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. layoffs

Has anything changed for the better?

I was laid off before the vaccine came along.
Terrible period.
I haven't visited this forum for a long time, all my close colleagues are no longer part of that company, and I'm interested in whether the situation has changed for the better in the meantime?
Is it any better at Seaworld now?

Not surprised. The limited contact I had with one person that was still there didnt really endorse much. Saw a post about the cedar fair rejection, and thought I would come see whats going on here. Feel for anyone who is still at the park that gave a cr-p. As much as it hurt to get laid off and toss, knowing how much i worked and cared about the place in the last remaining years before a health issue started to take hold and limit me from working the same way now... I am still in a better place employment wise and have even been able to come out at the new job.

Hang in there anyone still there fighting, i do hope things still get better. Maybe one day a particular person will find they can no longer be in charge.

SWC is a toxic dumpster fire. It might get better since there has been changes to the senior leadership

San Diego has the most toxic work environment. We thought 2009 was bad. Going on it’s third park President since the pandemic hit. The VP of Park Operations runs the park and is the biggest bully, is abusive and has no people skills. The VP of revenue recently get fired (again) the other VP’s are the only good left in that place . SWC is just a cash making machine at this point .

This may be an unpopular opinion, but if the employees continue to accept exploitation and abuse then there is no reason for change. The company stock is up over 300% since the Covid "curve flattening" break in operations from March 2020. SeaWorld execs are getting exactly what they want and it is coming off the backs of under-compensated and underappreciated employees. If anything is to improve, the company is going to need to be made aware of the actual value of a competent and able workforce. Perhaps a sick-out or other employee-wide event that slows revenue might turn some heads. This is no longer my battle, but those who hope to once again have faith in SeaWorld as a satisfactory employer are going to need to step up their game.

No. It’s still a toxic waste dump filled with harassment, corruption and greed.

No. Still no 401k match, still bad management. The list goes on and on. SR only cares about profit.
