Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What's up with all the Cube pics on LI?

It looks like a lot of those leaving voluntarily or otherwise are proudly posting Cube pics on their last day. What's up with that?

Are people leaving, genuinely posting the pics with proudness, guilt, or they have to depart a perceivably good organization to leave behind?

Is XOM paying people to gain publicity? Doubt it.

Then why so much of a FREE publicity given to an employer who you know (those of you leaving) has done you wrong in a lot of ways.

Would love to hear from those who have actually written these posts in LI, their rationale behind this. No one posting, thank God I am out of abusive relationship, instead promoting an employer who as a company treats people less than best.

People in industry knows about EM culture, nobody hold it against you.
People keep the phots coming, I think it make things easier for people trying find a job. It shows something is wrong with EM and you don’t have to explain why you want to leave and it is the truth. This company instead of listening to their employees wasting money on these trolls. I think trolls are making things worst by making rude comments.

To those down voting this thread, do you want to explain why downvoting? If you won't then assuming you are corrupted managers or brownnoser gang members from XOM.

@1ken+1dNVu9dL - you assume ToxxicMobil is popular. Quite the contrary, most people have a bad impression of the company.

As for the recruiter; most people that have left haven’t had any trouble finding a better job despite of Exxon. Most people I know are moving forward, leaving oil and gas for good.

Saying a cube pic will affect future prospects is just another way to try to control by fear: typical ToxxicMobil.
All lies.

I have friend who recruits people and she said she will not hire someone who takes a picture at the cube. She knows they will end up being a pain in the ar-e and complain when they are not immediately promoted to a high level role making lots of cash.

you will be surprise with what collective power of ex-employees can do....this is only a sign that people are willing to speak-up only after they left the company...why do you think people hesitate to speak-up while still employed with EM? Go figure....

Talk of a middle finger. That was well done! And professional too.
At least someone is calling out these clowns in management and even by name.
Show some ba--s.

Yes, each week, I see a lot of people sticking the middle finger through LI. On the other hand, I also see new EM job posts in LI and some people are actually applying. Can't wait for these newbies to shove two middle fingers next year.

It does a couple of things, none of which provide positive press to Exxon.

  1. Let’s their network know they’re moving on
  2. Shows future employers they are professional about it (with the positive words that everyone knows is just a way of saying I’ll miss the people but middle finger to Exxon)
  3. Adds to the meme that Reuters wrote about, showing that so many people are leaving Exxon and is just a big middle finger to the company (it’s why they had management stooges posting pictures of the cube saying how great it is, because the cube picture meme is a bad thing for the company and their ability to attract and retain talent).

The fact you think any of that is good for the company is so off base

An odd post. It's people glad to see the back of The Cube. Kudos to them!

We love traditions at XOM. And that's the new tradition: post your pic with the cube either to show your disgust or tell every body else that you are still here and d-mb enough to stay. Clearly, I have my opinion and you know which side I am with and I can't wait to post my cube pic soon. But until then, I am crossing my fingers.
