Health Accommodation

Anyone want to share what health issue got them an approved ongoing full time telecommute accommodation?
Just curious to know if ADD/ADHD/Asthma etc merit an accommodation.
Might save others disappointment and the time and effort if the requests aren't getting approved

You should have a condition that cannot be accommodated by WF. I am not going to be popular here but people have been having kids for a long time and some actually have to work at a check out counter to the day they deliver. They may make a short term if. Your doctor says you should not move and you have a condition but i would thinking walking and working would be helpful. They announced today that you can pretty much work from home anyway but i would still if you have a medical condition or impairment go through the process it is not pleasant but i don’t trust that they will reverse course so if you should have an accomodation i would still get one.

Social Anxiety, high blood pressure. That is what you call welcome to corporate America. I get that sitting at my desk at home.

Chase has the same thing except they are less likely to approve. WF has them beat in that respect, at least for the moment. With all the ex Chase management here, who knows if that will change.

The accommodations program requires a letter from your doctor to disclose any medication condition -- then the company will try to make in office accommodations. Working with these people is insulting, demeaning, and intrusive. The DE&I program at WF is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. Plenty of remote positions out there.

Are you positive that the asteroid wasn’t an asterisk?

My accommodation was approved as on going as the doctor marked it permanent. It took a while to get through the entire process, but they warned me that being later in RTO they would prioritize earlier returns first as they are swamped.

Mine is listed as Ongoing, under Accommodation Duration and was approved. Only took 6 trauma surgeries and permanent partial disability (hint: when I was hired 5+ years ago as remote only, this was all well-known and agreed to by WF and management, so yeah, it felt sh*tty when they made me go through this "accommodation process". Jerks.

Has anyone used pregnancy as a reason to WFH? I saw it listed with the Astrid so I was wondering if this was applicable reason?

The responder who answer that "none are ongoing" is incorrect. My approved accommodation is ongoing.

Instead of trying to buck the system, why not leave it and choose something else? Other employers are completely fine with remote work.

For Asthma to be granted the classification needs to be "uncontrolled" , moderate to severe. Meaning you are still adjusting to maintenance medications or for some reason you don't tolerate most of them well or your symptoms don't respond to them...If you have asthma attack like once a year or once a month that's not really severe. If you use albuterol at least once daily that's considered moderate.

For other conditions like let's say you're on dialysis that is obviously extremely high risk, along with anything where you need to take immunosuppressive dr-gs. Coronary disease including partially blocked arteries or diabetes that isn't headed in the right direction could also qualify.

High blood pressure and high cholesterol ALONE probably not sufficient. Super high BMI, maybe, but your endocrinologist will need to make a recommendation.

Your doctor needs to articulate his/her concerns in the letter explicitly and the admin needs to be available to verify authenticity of the letter from the office.

Good luck.

None of those would give you an accommodation to WFH. Very few WFH accommodations are being given out even if there were prior agreements in place.

@qel+1dPAecmR
None are ongoing. All of them require repeated approval after a period of time.

I have asthma and it is the reason I’ve been extremely cautious with COVID this entire time but I’m not even going to try and get an accommodation over it. It’s such a common diagnosis that I’m sure that the operating committee will reject it unless I can get a doctor’s note that says I’m basically at death’s door.

If you're asking you probably don't qualify.

if you could come in the office before COVID you will come in now. additionally, accomodation requests aren't one and done, you'll need to regularly resubmit and get reapproved.

So... what are considered sufficient to receive an ongoing accommodation?

Social anxiety wont be accomodated nor will add etc. We have a neuro diversity program for people who actually suffer from these conditions and they have to come in.
