Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What do you read between the lines here?

MARTINEZ: What will going electric mean in terms of jobs, given unions' fear that electric vehicle production might mean less labor?
WILLIAMS: So right now what we're seeing - we're seeing an opportunity to grow our business. The plants that we're building, we're bringing on 11,000 additional jobs. It's going to take a cultural shift as we move, but it's different jobs. It might not be the typical job that you're doing today. It might be a different job. But again, we're reskilling workers as well to bring them along on the way.
MARTINEZ: Will training workers mean that you might have to get different workers, younger workers or workers with a different skill set than before?
WILLIAMS: It will - I think it'll encompass all that because once we switch over to EVs, it's a cultural shift. And it's going to take, you know, retraining current workers. It's going to take bringing on new workers. It's all of the above to make sure we're successful.

Ford is making a major investment in a Right-to-Work state at the same time that a political party is attempting to pass a bill that will pay consumers up to $12,000 to purchase EVs made at union factories. This is more than coincidence. Tennessee offers massive tax breaks and incentives to move lower wage jobs to Memphis and the Feds will pay consumers to buy the products, all at taxpayer expense. The UAW will sign-on so they can take credit for growing their ranks and increase their funding to the same political party subsidizing the jobs.

Also, interesting that the Ford spokesperson is certain that "climate change is real", but could not directly answer the question about source of electric power. She is probably unaware the leading source of Electric power is fossil fuels (coal and natural gas).

Why do you think Memphis TN became the benefactor of a newly awarded 6 mile complex which will vertically integrate all the needs of the future of Ford Motor Company's new products for the next 10 decades.

Less “adapt.” More “move on.”

It means adapt or move on. Stop living in the past and the way it was.
