Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

How familiar are they with the work and merits of the person they are promoting?

My answer: everything is taken into account, apart from what should have been the biggest measure - how hard a person worked and how well they did their job.
Promotion is decided by people who, in my opinion, are not at all well acquainted with the work of an individual and his or her merits. By doing things this way, Chevron risks deeper and costlier problems in the future.

: @1fyo+1dRU2Dfo. How long are you going to post the exact same complaint on each and every thread? Is it not the time for you to grow up and finally find a job!

Why is this called the Layoff.com? It just seems to me like a teenage chat room is all, at least for Chevron. Do any adults post here?

Years at Chevron has taught me to be an excellent compartmentalizer. My work life is completely separate from my home and personal life. Work life is where the BS compartment is. Home and personal life is where happiness and fulfillment compartment is. Rarely do I allow the two worlds to collide.

Political appointments, that’s what promotions mostly are in this company. That and quota-driven metrics.

Process is so opaque. No feedback given as to why, or why not, a promotion is approved.
