Exxon Mobil Corp. on Monday said it plans to build its first large-scale advanced recycling facility in Texas as the energy giant steps up efforts to reduce plastic waste.

Exxon Mobil said it expects the plant at its Baytown complex near Houston to start operations by the end of next year, with an initial planned capacity to recycle 30,000 metric tons of plastic waste annually.

The company noted that a smaller, temporary facility is already producing commercial volumes of certified circular polymers that would be available by the end of 2021 to meet growing demand.

Exxon Mobil also said it is developing plans to build about 500,000 metric tons of advanced recycling capacity around the world by 2026. The company said it is collaborating with Plastic Energy on an advanced recycling plant in France, and that it is assessing sites in the Netherlands, the U.S. Gulf Coast, Canada, and Singapore.

Maybe it's a rumour, but they've planned at least 1 recycling plant on ship(s) in the Pacific Ocean. Inside those plastic whirlpool phenomena.
Now, THAT is exploration.
The platform for this will be the repurposed Esso Japan ULCC currently off the coast of Yemen. Matter of a few months.

So, a cracker produces, what? 1-1.5 million T per year? And EM has how many crackers? And this baby recycles what? 30 thousands? How many days it takes a cracker to make 30 thousand T?

Good start of course but pretty inconsequential.

It’s not greenwashing. And while it’s fairly small compared to our modern world scale virgin resin plants, it’s not an hour or two of production. More like a few months. Small steps.

What a joke, that’s just an hour or two of production of virgin plastic at most lines.

This is just greenwashing, nothing more, nothing less.

EM getting all grown up - cleaning up after itself and pushing the chair in.
Can even make some money at it.
This is real progress.
