Changing department

Why does it seem to me that it is easier to get a job in another company than to be able to get a job in another department here?
I’ve been trying for a long time and I can’t seem to get a job in another department. Perhaps my case is unique or is it really that difficult here?

There's sort of a guideline of 18 months in a job or after a promotion. Not that it can't be broken under the right circumstances (for example if your target department was really hurting for people and affecting milestones or deliveries, and your current department wasn't....if the opposite, this is most definitely the problem), but it's generally what's considered reasonable. I'm not sure if your management is disallowed from blocking a move after 18 months, but I do know that at less than that, there is some discretion involved.

So, don't tank your performance rating or anything (as that can also stand in the way of a move, esp a move up), but if you want to move, don't be gunning for a promote either. Get the bump when you move.

What is best for HON is obviously best for the employee.

Cross department promotions or any promotions in general are reserved for the friends and family of management.

You have to relocate, at your own expense.
Consider looking in other sbg.

Transfer or any interview internally needs a manager approval. That is why I stopped and been looking outside

Changing departments is like changing rooms on the RMS Titanic.

I believe current managers have to approve departmental transfers.
