Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

WFH really made certain people even more lazy…..

I mean, c’mon man, get it together. It’s called work for a reason. If you want to lay around in your pajamas all day, unshowered, please, by all means do so, but not on the company dime.

Time to suck it up and get back to work in the designated office you were hired for.

Remember, there’s people out there willing to commute to work in an office and no shortage of H1B visa employees that will also gladly work in the office.

It’s all about attitude.

You are an id--t. I can still work in the office unbathed and in sh-t clothes. If you think that’s why people want to be home and it has nothing to do with a commute times or the fact that a lot of people don’t need to be around others to be productive, then you’re lying to yourself.

@lfh+1djGCIWd - I get it. If you are without work and looking or perhaps the bank just pays more, then "any port in a storm" but please be careful. I've been with the bank 25+ years. When I started it was a great place to work. The company has been good to me over the years, but that all changed when BM came into power and we hired a boat load of former Lehmans execs. Hopefully all remember that they failed. And from my perspective those same folks are helping take us down the same toxic rabbit ho-e. The "culture" the talking heads profess and the actual culture are drastically different.

I've been WFH for 18 years. 2 years ago I decided to add up my hours for the year to see what the average was. My hours for the year divided by 365... I - AVERAGED - 13.64 hours per day based on a full year. I must be REALLY lazy.

They need you in the office so they can mandate endless booster shots.

You will never be WFH full time again. Vaccine mandates depend on employees being in the office.

'lay around in your pajamas all day, unshowered'
Is that what you look like when wfh? Otherwise why you assume that?

For some people maybe that's true. But even if they're in the office, they can still be lazy by taking a long break, chatting with ppl, not being productive while working, etc. WFH itself does not make ppl lazier.

@szh+1djGCIWd Totally agree. Pre pandemic over 90% of meetings were conducted in the office via WebEx or Skype since we had participants across the US and in India.

BM's line about valuing face to face interaction again is totally irrelevant to our organizational structure, and he knows it. We all know it. He won't come clean about why he wants employees back... 1. preserving the Bank's commercial real estate holdings, and 2. political pressure / tax incentives (ahem DeBlasio)..

@OP+1djGCIWd Are you still looking up contacts from the Rolodex on your desk?

Work is an activity not a place. And you know what.... I have this thing at my house called the internet and it allows me to log in to the BofA HVD and do my work... It's pretty great, you should try it.

If I webex / zoomed with my team prior to the pandemic from the cubicle. And if I webex / zoomed with my team during the pandemic from home. Why must I return to my cubicle? Technology has proven webex / zooming from home results in as good or even better productivity, and a definite boost in morale.

Over my 10+ years with this bank one thing they preached on a constant was "accepting change". Time for them to listen to their own preaching....

I’m looking for a job, I’ve taken a new approach, I’m being up front about being flexible and willing to work in the office, everyday and whatever hours needed. I’m getting great feedback because so many are looking to work remotely. Hopefully I land the role I interviewed for at BoA soon.
