Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Layoff would be a relief

What can I say except that for a long time now I've only been doing the bare minimum, hoping to be on the layoff list next time around. I would love that the most. Get the package and get out of this ridiculous company. Layoff rounds are less and less stressful.

Now I’m almost certain that more employees would like to get laid off than there are those who would like to keep their job at DXC?

"DXC is not a jail, you can walk out any time you like and go somewhere far better. Why wouldn't you?"

In the UK, a large proportion are near retirement with one years free salary on offer.
All the oldies need to is to stay at home, twiddle thumbs and book on the few remaining security cleared accounts.....

This is the best advice for anyone at DXC. There are much better employers out there, in fact you'd have to work very hard to find a worse employer than DXC.

Having DXC on your CV will not block you from getting another role. Some employers will view it as -ve, especially if you've been there a long time, but certainly not all. If you've been there a long time you might be holding on for a nice big WFR payment but honestly, it's probably not worth the stress of remaining with DXC when you look at where you could be instead.

I, and others like me, have proved that there is life after DXC. There's a whole world of good, responsible employers out there who won't treat you badly - most will treat you well.

DXC is not a jail, you can walk out any time you like and go somewhere far better. Why wouldn't you?

Don't know about BAE but there are many, many examples of billable people being WFRed in ANZ. Clients and staff don't matter here, its all about the sales figures and the top man's bonus.

I'll say it again " If you want to leave, then leave already. Your not a slave !" STOP all the bi-----g if you want to leave the company then do so already. You all across the pond are baby's with your long severance packages.

We in the US that are being laid off as well only get 8 weeks maximum, so its not worth waiting to be WFR's. Me on the other hand am 2 years away from US retirement age and will stick it out.

Why not, not too much work, unlimited vacation time, tons of sick time, cheaper insurance then Medicare part B, C and D.

"I seem to remember a UK restricted account team turning up at client site,"

Yes, I remember it too - The client had no intention of signing the job off, but for those involved, the sniff of work was enough to try and get yet another unbillable jolly.
That nonsense had to be stopped in the end. The department was constantly losing more money than it earned

I seem to remember a UK restricted account team turning up at client site, but were all sent home when a DXC PHB cancelled the hotels as a cost saving ploy... £5k cost of business saving, never mind the 50k billable loss! True story, the security officer was pulling his hair out in chunks at coffee machine in Turing suite..DOH!

BAE in the UK is a prime example of DXC using WFR to cut costs by removing billable people from clients. That’s right, DXC makes people redundant when they’re actively billing.

I had this happen to my twice in two years at DXC - on the first occasion I arrived on client site on Monday to find just 2 of my team of 15 were there. The other 13 had been WFR’d. I was the Programme Director, and hadn’t been told that these people would be leaving! By the end of the week, the client had thrown us out as we couldn’t deliver.

The second time it happened was on a project for BAE - a project that would have been a great leading-edge case study….. right up to the point where DXC WFR’d half of the team.

It’s clear that, no matter what the leadership says, this is a company that doesn’t understand the basic concepts of customer experience, or of employee engagement, or of decent behaviour.

I quit after 2.5 years, without a job to go to. I had offers while working my notice - but took a 10 week break to get the DXC toxic culture firmly out of my system before starting a new role.

Most in DXC UK know about the situation regarding BAE accounts and DXC UK.
WFR is inevitable and sadly, many people will not get another job
Be kind

The UK staff on the BAE account are soon to be in for a shock. They are a bunch of narcissitic posers who are utterly incompetent and totally worthless. The Auditors are being heard at last - ha ha bye bye shy ted BAE account wasters !

A worthy and succinct post.

I was an employee in Northern Europe, and wasn't dreaming when I fortunately retired from DXC some four years ago. WFR's were all around me at that time, but I held on to open the exit door myself. Current employees are not so lucky it seems.

Reading recent layoff posts sadly confirms nothing has changed since then, though I notice fewer people are voicing their opinions on this site of late.

Yes, Sal and his immediate cronies are way out of touch with the true workers and wealth creators in the company, but evidently, despite early assurances to the contrary, they no longer care any more.

The middle management are the problem with this company. Stuck in their nepotistic ways, covering their backsides, deflecting problems and blame elsewhere. They are the real reason this company has gone down the pan. Regretfully, unless Sal sacks and replaces most of L3 => L5, nothing much is going to change.

I can't see that happening, so wait for the quarterly results and Wall Street reaction. Hopefully thereafter, you'll get your WFR.

Unfortunately, unless you are an employee in Northern Europe your dreaming... I was happy to take control of my exit - before DXC did.

The only other type of DXC employee who should hang on is those who would retire anyhow, just doing nothing whilst pensions are being topped up.

Those in the midst of a career, with mortgages, loans and 👪 to support need to drive their own exit to save themselves unnecessary pain!
