If most of your group is older then 40, they will use this as an opportunity to lay them permanently off.
The move to Charleston was thinly disguised age discrimination with the goal to lay off older workforce in Washington state and replace them with new younger employees who are paid much less in South Carolina.
I think the company was disappointed with the quality of the work in South Carolina but at the end of the day they want to pay their employees as little as they can. So little that it’s becoming an unattractive employer for anyone who has a goal of supporting a family.
Don't count on it. If she fires your whole group she will get a promotion.
