Why is everyone so scared of layoffs? I seem to be the only one on my team who's not petrified of the possibility of losing my job and I haven't been here for that long, so there's no severance for me as a safety net. It's just a job. If you're laid off, you'll find a new one. You won't starve or go homeless because you'll have severance money to tide you over. So why is everybody so stressed out and worried over this all the time?

Its no joke, and I know a couple managers who share such mentality as the poster below. They have consistently only hired and promoted genes of certain descendants in their teams. I won’t be surprised if this is one of them here.
Surprisingly, HR has been completely blind to their actions. One of them actually got promoted multiple times in the organization despite such an obvious record.
No wonder why the company is on the brink of disaster and looking for a buyer.
It wasn't America when stone age tribes controlled this land. America was born in the genes of the Europeans who gentrified this continent. Only their descendants can sustain it.
You can go back where you came from. Nobody wants you here anyway.
And whoever you are, where will you go back to?
This place ain't yours but native Americans, you know that right!
Hard to find tech jobs in Florida? So easy to find fully remote jobs now.

Do you have job mobility restrictions due to visa related limitations, even if you are highly skilled and can find a job?
I don’t get you people - you sound young.
Do you have kids in private school.?
Do you have a mortgage?
Do you have college tuition ? For the kids
Do you have a car payment .?
Is your portfolio complete?
Do you have aging parents? You have to cover the coasts.?
I am glad you are blessed , one big problem with Citrix young new hires who don’t care.
In Florida it’s hard to find tech jobs.
Everybody who's not completely stupid can find a new job quickly, esp with the current red-hot job market. But it's still a change plus it's before the holidays, so it brings some stress when you don't exactly need it. Also many have higher expenses (sick kids/partners, parents they are taking care of, etc.) so having a gap in income even for a month or two can be pretty inconvenient.
