Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Lay off

Do UW’s get laid off? Or are they retained for the most part. I’ve been seeing IT , engineers, claims, etc laid off. I wonder how it is for UW’s

Don't get overly comfortable with the comment from gjbm+1duNM1lo that they've never seen an uw layoff. I've seen plenty especially after the expense of a new policy administration system (aka Duck Creek). Probably safe until after the migration but look out in 23'

Life underwriters were riffed by the boatloads 2016-2020. I think they stopped the bloodbath once they finally decided to sell off L&R. Don’t know about underwriters from the other divisions.

I have never seen or heard of an uw rift. However, as a former SR UW who sat in an UW chair for 15yrs while promotions were flying around, start looking for a better company that recognizes and promotes talent. Uw's pull money in the door and are overlooked for promotions or transfers to other departments as Aig will not disrupt the flow of cash. get comfortable in your UW role, you are going to be in it until you decide to leave for something better!
AIG Underwriter=cash cow. "keep the cow producing at all costs!!!"
