Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Layoff process

How do layoffs work at BofA? I'm most curious about how you are informed and if there is any room to negotiate the package. I'm assuming the weeks you'll receive are set in stone, but is there any way to negotiate the medical coverage and how long it will last after your final day?

When I was severed after nearly 25 years, my manager called me on a Wednesday (the typical layoff day) morning and said my position was eliminated in the city where I lived. He wanted to console me. I laughed, told him I was ecstatic and to overnight the paperwork so I could move this forward as fast as possible. I prayed for that day for three years.
Full salary and benefits during severance period which was great because I landed a comparable job one month later. Yes there is life outside BAC

Good luck finding an attorney who will take BAC to court for [insert lame reason here]. None of the complaints I've read would stand up in court.

there are no vaccine-specific layoffs. for the love of god, stop the fear mongering.

posting message after message of threats doesn't change anything. it makes you look like a 3 year old.

We are talking normal layoffs. If we are talking vaccine status or eventual requirement per my understanding there will be no severance. For cause with no unemployment and not rehirable...

Over almost a dozen years with the bank I've seen it happen a few ways. As you walk into the building in the morning your manager is at the door and ask you to walk with them to a conference room. Or, you are at your desk in the morning and get a calendar invite to meet at the conference room. Or, your manager walks up to your cubicle and ask you to walk to the conference room. As soon as others see any of these scenarios happen the pings start flying to let everyone know whats up.

Once you are in the conference room there will be a 2nd manager, they always work in pairs. You will be handed your envelope. Inside you will find the terms of your severance. You will have 2 options, the lump sum payment all at once, or the multiple payment option.

You will exit the conference room almost as quickly as you entered. You will either hang your head doing the walk of shame, or head held high knowing all along you were only a number, and almost all of us will be laid off sooner or later.

There is no negotiation. You either sign and accept or decline and go find an employment attorney. Health care is covered by cobra, which is expensive. Go look up the current severance policy for the number of weeks given. Good luck.
