Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

USB couldn't care less about us

Numerous frustrations arise precisely because many are reluctant to accept the fact that USB does not care at all for its employees.

I don’t remember that USB has ever, by any means, showed that they cared about us, or at least for a few of the best among us?

It may be that some hard worker may have felt more valued in the past, but even this is no longer the case.

USB under Andy does not, has never, and will never care about the employee. They lie ALL the time to our face. Am forever glad I got myself out of there a few months ago.

Pretty much spot on. They keep adding more work for me even when I keep saying I'm at my limit. I've felt so pressured by the workload I've come in when sick and skipped breaks just in hopes I'll be able to get out of there on time at the end of the day. Management says they appreciate me for all I do then tell me it's my own fault I feel pressured to do the work they tell me I have to do.

Add in crazy complexity and how old their technology is, their technology is a ball of very old band-aids. Nothing is every done the right way, it's always done the cheapest and worst way possible. They don't view technology or technology people as an investment. 20-25 years behind the times, being led by old managers that think email and spreadsheets are cutting edge. You can't move to new and cheaper technology with these old dogs leading the pack. You are only going to get more of the same.

I knew people who started their careers at each of the 3 major entities now known as US Bank. First Bank (Mpls), US Bank (Portland OR) and Firstar Bank (St. Louis MO) were long respected institutions. In 1997 First Bank bought US Bank and adopted the name. A few years later US Bank acquired Firstar. As departments were combined, the employees had difficulties giving up power and there was a lot of backstabbing and tribalism that continues today. Richard Davis did his best to create a culture of unity but it never stuck. People always introduced themselves by first listing which of the 3 entities they hailed from. Promotions were often based upon whether you were from Portland, Minneapolis or St. Louis because management favored the people from their home entity. If you were from Minneapolis and your management was from Portland or St. Louis, you had to prove your merit above and beyond in order to measure up. But no matter what you did, you were considered the lesser whenever plumb assignments came up.
I always thought it was just a corporation that grew too quickly but maybe it's more about regionalism and prejudice. All I can say is that US Bank lost all the camaraderie that once held each of those 3 banks together. There is no sense of longevity or community any more. Branch banking is considered a necessary annoyance rather than a core business. They are woefully understaffed and the employees are rotated so much they don't build relationships with the customers. While digital banking is critical, people still have a need to connect with their bank. Without a stable brick and mortar business there is no brand. People are choosing small local banks and credit unions because they want the kind of service they provide.
Now that a fourth large entity has joined the mix (Elevon) the technology groups are so dysfunctional it's a wonder the whole thing doesn't implode! There are so many contractors vs employees there is no sense of continuity or engagement. Everyone is just there for the money and/or waiting until their jobs get cut. It's just very sad to me when I acknowledge the sense of belonging to something worthwhile has eroded completely.

Factual. They don't care for any employee. Management shows hatred for the working class daily. Thankfully they are lazy and kind of stupid so they can't figure out how to eliminate all employees.
