Rif

I'm not vaccinated yet. My manager asked me whether or not I was and I told him not yet. Two days later I get the notification. Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat???

Be happy if u got rif now. Cause if u get let go later over vax, you wouldnt be able to collect for a year or more.

@ajq+1dzBACee That's like saying your neighbor will know your vax status because you're out of work at VZ. The manager will not be told your status, but yeah, obviously if you're off on unpaid leave, they can put 1+1 together.

RIFs take months to plan. Completely coincidental with your vaccine status. Look on the bright side, at least you get $$$ to go vs. what would happen in December for refusing the vax.

While the managers don’t know your vaccine status yet, they will eventually find out on Dec. 8, when HR sends the names of the employees to to be terminated. For now, manages are asking people and suggesting that employees get the vaccine.

one has nothing to do with the other - rif decisions are not made overnight. It was inappropriate for the mgr to even ask - that is between you and HR - your mgr should know better.

After almost three decades and looking at the crowd that is taking over and what they have done to the network and culture, I really am glad to be leaving.

A while back someone posted about the talent drain after the 2018 package and how devastating it was to the company, network and stock price.

It turns out that they were right, which is why so many veterans have volunteered. Almost none of the new crew understands the business.

An accountant is leading the company and its new technologies and many of the senior leaders don't have the business school nor technology chops. Marketing and advertising went from best of breed to kindergarten and crayons.

It has been a steady down hill stagger since Ivan left, and when John left, that really ended it. Now the company just shuffles along.

Unvaccinated employees are more vulnerable to RIFs. Many times managers are undecided when it comes to giving names and small things like being unvaccinated will put you on the line.

That would be what I would do. If HR told me I had to RIF 5 people and 4 on my team are not vaccinated, then all 4 would be RIF’d. Then I only have to worry about picking 1 more.

I'm on a different boat, spending my $200 vax bonus somewhere in the Caribbean right now. Halloween Cruise.
Back to work next Tuesday.

Well that works out in your favor. I've interviewed at 5 jobs to test the waters in the hot labor market and got 3 of them that I ended up turning down because it wasn't just enough compensation to make the switch with the current economic uncertainty in the country. Point being not a single one asked about Vax status and when I did ask they said it was recommended but not required.
