Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

What the main benefit to you from this forum?

I'm interested to get a feel for the forum and understand what other posters here see as the main benefit of TheLayoff - is it to learn about potential layoffs, to gossip, to vent at HR and management etc.
This questionnaire is completely anonymous :) feel free to answer if you feel like it

For me this site is really helpful to see the "ugly" side of the company that I'm not usually exposed to in my own org/location (lucky enough to not be hit by major reductions) and helps to see if any layoffs (as in the name of the website) or frustrating policies are coming down the line.
I also never knew Poland has had such troubles with both HR and the union.

Aside from that, some things have come to mind after reading on here a while:

  1. How / why do comments get deleted? By whom and on what basis? I've had some of my comments deleted, is there a moderator for this channel?
  1. No offence but I've seen some people focus very intensely on topics that don't necessarily benefit them - questions like who do you think would now hire DC and DW, or how TR was amazing 20 years ago now it's sh-t etc. Regardless of frustrations how does that help you personally in avoiding the RIF, getting a raise, finding another job etc.

Honestly if you're that person it's not good for you, focusing on that stuff outside your control and constant bitterness is a downward spiral that feeds itself, better I think to focus how to operate within the current environment or how to find a good way out.
Again, no offense meant to anyone

I was told I was joining a great team by the management. When I arrived I found out I >was being put in a team of around 20 TCS with no permanent staff. The results are >predictable and I spend my time managing the teams record number of TRTs, fixing >awful designs and trying to convince TCS to rewrite and test their work.

Sadly a lot of us TCSers are former TR/Refinitiv employees who decided to take the TCS gig when it was offered, and are mostly doing the same work we were doing as Refinitiv employees. However, a big issue has been working with and training people who actually came from TCS talent pools and are completely unfamiliar with the products and systems. TCS has also been known to bring in "freshers" who are just out of school and have no practical experience at all. And to make things worse, in less than a year, there has already been significant turnover with TCS people leaving, and another round of inexperienced TCS people rotated in. It's very hard to keep things running smoothly when having to take time to train new people every few months. Morale isn't great either. To LSEG management, it doesn't matter if some of us were former TR or Refinitiv. We're all being scrutinized equally as TCS contractors now.

As some relatively new to the company it's interesting to see how people feel and to get some honest views. There's the odd gem post on here that captures what the current situation is well.

I was told I was joining a great team by the management. When I arrived I found out I was being put in a team of around 20 TCS with no permanent staff. The results are predictable and I spend my time managing the teams record number of TRTs, fixing awful designs and trying to convince TCS to rewrite and test their work.

The organisation seems to be in deep denial, and either doesn't know how bad the technology situation is or don't want to acknowledge it. I've got a good job title out of Refinitiv which is helping me get good job opportunities so I'll be gone ASAP. But I feel sad about Refinitiv. There was obviously some good products and work done in the past to capture that original market share, and it's been smashed to bits behind the scenes.

I used this forum to find out info that Management would not tell us, site is about 75% accurate as far as layoffs etc.

Schadenfreude, mostly. I was let go in 2016 after being a dedicated and and hard worker across several disciplines for 15 some odd years. I knew there was a problem with management almost immediately after the Reuters buy. When DW (the male DW not the female DW) came to 195 Broadway and hosted a self aggrandizing town hall that was basically a slide show of what he called the "D-Tour": his round the world tour of all Thomson and Reuters offices. Yes, there were T shirts. That just about summed up the executive mindset from that point on: this is about us, not about you.

Regrettably the forum is a platform for certain people to post derogatory, targeted and inappropriate content that is self serving. Usually it ends up getting taken down.

I didn’t exactly receive the stellar year-end review that I had hoped for, and that caused me to become very self-conscious about myself. I thought there was something wrong with me. But this forum made me realize there was something terribly wrong with upper management and company culture.

I check in regularly to get news about what's really going on... and about what people inside the company really think. I left a while ago and still feel sad about what this great company is becoming.
Maybe I'm checking in to see if LSEG management will grasp the common sense lost when with Blackstone.

Main benefit is to have a laugh and some chuckles at how much CR-P is posted on this forum. 99.99999% is useless rubbish. Few regular posters who seem to stick to a similar pattern of topics. There used to be a LinkedIn page that got shut down, feel that trashing has ended up on here. Not convinced I can rely on this forum as a source of authentic or reliable information, so as I said, it’s a laugh, a lot like the trash that gets posted on the UK Daily Mail website. Flicked thru other company pages on here and they are no different, my conclusion it’s a website that attracts a certain demographic it seems globally across multiple industry verticals. Every website has its audience and place. So if you enjoy it and relish the content, good for you. I’ll pop in once in a while to have my laughs.

I just come here to see what is going on.
Layoffs are no longer what they were before ...
It is interesting to learn about the constant outages and so on and be able to understand that nothing changes.

It seems to be business as usual...
A bit disapointing the site now.

I suppose everyone has it’s own reasons for frequenting it. In a sum, this place works OK for me. Even though there aren’t many layoffs right now, it’s still a good place to find out what’s coming down the line. It’s probably a good place to vent too, but I don’t do that, I just skip things I’m not interested in and engage where I feel appropriate.

Regarding deletions, using f-words/insults and using real names/PII can get you there. Site mods also nuke spam and some off-topics like political rants.

Originally the site was useful when it was TR and there were lots of layouts working through but not so useful now especially in the uk as don’t seem to be layoffs just down grading etc. Seems the subjects that come up are moans and groans.
Also often hard to see what part of the world.
I pop in occasionally in case any real info but in uk LSEG seem to be more focussed on wearing people down that laying them off
