We might have our issues, but they pale in comparison to some of the other companies. I've never been happier that I work for Chevron - as imperfect as it is - and not at one of our competitors than when I read through their posts on this forum. I just hope we don't end up like them, which is not out of the realm of possibility.

Yeah right.
Yea XOM sucks lol
Chevron is 1/10th of the serious company it used to be compared to when I began my career in 1991. The slide downhill started with the Texaco merger and has never stopped getting worse.
Agreed. New to Chevron and this was NOT the company I interviewed 15 years ago. Shocked to be honest. How far it has fallen or changed in the ways you described. If you want to carry the banner on being the “best” of the worst by far that shows you how forgone our standards have fallen. Aim higher do better and don’t settle for mediocrity. For those who don’t like it - leave? We can but then if we do, not a lot changes and it doesn’t get better until the pendulum swings again. But then by today’s standard that seems like a great winningpath forward for some?
You base this assumption upon what you have observed on an anonymous posting layoff website? Is that how you have gained your keen insight and vast field of knowledge? Perhaps, you may consider engaging with people you personally know who are employed by our competitors and who share credible facts. In doing so, you may form a better informed opinion.
You may be new to the industry. It was FAR better 15+ years ago when the company focused on business and getting work done. People were proud of technical achievements and managers were technically engaged. These days most of leadership is in lala-land, all hat and no cattle. Talking heads. The focus is lost in endless initiatives. Way too many people doing "smoothing" roles, matrix management, advising, coordinating, chatting about diversity, shared toilets and other HR nonsense has diluted the entire enterprise. This has driven away the best technical staff and leaders.
I agree. If you believe you are valuable yet feel so unappreciated, move on. Is it not insane to stay and complain? I'm on this site to gather any advantage before next redundancies. It could be next year or 5. Don't care for who you hate or how unfair you have been treated. ( because you are so great) Give MW another million, I don't care! Good on him. Let's share information so those who want to stay get a better chance.
OP: Stroke the noddle much?
I hate to say it, but I agree with OP.
