Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Middle managers with toadies in tow

There is a small percentage of middle managers who tend to take their crew of truculent toadies with them when they move jobs. You have all seen it. A new GM arrives and within a couple months a few leaders from his/her old location slither in the door. Watch out for these leaders as they are generally dysfunctional game players who have collected a small cadre of bun-lickers they trust to do their bidding. They lack the self-confidence to run their operations with new staff (who may see through their games) and prefer the same old familiar corrupt smiling faces. As for the pathetic toadies, pray for them as they are living as boot lickers and will never amount to much.

It's hilarious reading posts by so many low level employees who think that they "Know something" about other employees, "how they think" or "what motivates them" and all you really have here are people with no life, aspirations or goals with others living rent free in their heads.

Hey PMO, HR guy or I guess it’s Advisor to Woke Queen now…Is that you? Your overly defensive yet weak retort is giving you away.

The trouble is that those middle managers get promoted to upper management, and their flunkies become the new middle management. Describes CTC exactly...

The life of a Toadie is actually not so bad, I make bank, and have minimal stress, and I work alongside family, life is great!

I have seen this behavior for years. Unfortunately what typically happens is the dysfunctional manager is discovered and either moved to staff position (with no employees) or locked into his final position for 10+ years. In the former case, the toadies have to find real jobs in Chevron but are not competitive/welcome. In the latter case, the toadies are stuck with him/her/they and not allowed to move since a stranger incoming would not be trusted - their careers stagnate along with the boss. If they complain to him he blows some smoke up their behind about some perks coming, like promotions for both of them. Sad.

MW was an EVP for a decade before he made CEO. Who will have a decade of EVP experience when MW retires in five years? Hint - JJ is too old.

MW fully endorses, as he prefers to be surrounded by yes-people. That will certainly take him to retirement, then EB or whoever is next CEO will have to clean up the mess and cut the dividend.

Makes sense. You need people to cover your a$$ as you move around.

You just described half of our HR leaders! RM advanced many of her DS&C pets and then there is LD with her crew of mean girls. Rest assured their toadies also see through them and probably don’t even really like them that much. But how else are they going to advance. Definitely not because they are competent or respected.
