This rumor is going around - full timer hours will be 28 to 32 hours a week is what i hear.
I will never agree to it if this turns out to be true.

28 to 32 hours is not necessarily bad if there are hours that you can pickup. This works well if you have a second job and need more flexibility.
I was always told from the minute I got hired as a full-timer that full time was technically 32hr under macys policies. Luckily working in an understaffed store I have never had a problem getting the hours I want. If anyone doesn't like it though, find another job. Macys will likely not change policy any time soon.
On what planet is a 28 hour job considered FT ? This is another one of Macys magical moments.
The norm for FT is 40 hours and I never heard of a company where FT employees are scheduled less than 35.
Macy’s Kool-Aid must taste good to you.
Tractor Man, not true. Jobs only convert to AWH if the FT position is vacated. FT's aren't being changed to AWH. And FT has been 28-32 for several years already except in the three Destination Businesses. Those are still 35-40 hrs, and they stay FT if vacated. Furniture, Beauty, and Fine Jewelry.
This is already the case and began when the new hiring system was implemented last February. All positions that were considered FT previously are now AWH (all hours worked) which is actually 20-28 hours and the option to pick up additional to maintain 30 hours/week to maintain full time benefits.
28 to 32 hours is not bad. It’s actually what my hours are and I am considered a full timer. If I want more hours, I usually pick up.I thought they would cut everyone off to 20 hours or something. Let’s just hope they don’t block you from picking up more hours. I worked so much overtime and extra hours when we had no help and people were home collecting extra $300 from unemployment or when we short staffed and seasonals called out. And they are going to repay me by cutting my hours. No thankfulness or gratitude or anything from the company for being there and reliable and staying and coming in when they wanted you to come in early or stay extra. It’s horrible, Macys don’t care about their employees at all.
