Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

You must be desperate

I have a question for those who have joined Fiserv in the last six months or so (if any are reading this forum). What made you decide to join a company that is obviously spiraling out of control right now? Unless you were desperate for a job and this was the only place that would take you, I honestly want to know what made you accept this offer.

"a company that is obviously spiraling out of control right now"

As an outsider, what can be used to identify this? And I'm asking more so for when I get a new job in a few weeks, how can I tell? Sure this site exists, but it is not nearly as active for many other companies. Companies I know are also doing poorly right now. One company that jumps to mind is better.com, not sure if you saw they just laid off 900 employees. I can't even find a listing for them on this site.

I accepted here with the intentions of working a 2nd WFH job to make more money. So if I lose this one, oh well, just going to get another one.

I took a job here about 10 months ago.

I was not desperate, I had a very good job but no path to career advancement. This job offered me a promotion in title and responsibility and a raise. My boss and team seemed nice, and I thought there was a real chance that all the changes they told me about, were really going to happen and this would be a better place (NOT. Boss gone. Team half gone, work piled on, etc. etc. etc.).

Oddly, I still think the company might achieve their big goals eventually..., but, not on my timetable. Plus it has not been pleasant at all to work here; in fact, it pretty much has s***ed.

Because of the better title and more responsibility I got here, there are now better opportunities I am being considered for elsewhere. So, I traded an unhappy year for a better career somewhere else.

Desperate are the people moving to New Jersey. How bad do you have to be at your job to do that

I have wondered that myself and this board should be required reading for anyone searching for a new job. Try Xerox, they are as bad. Particularly during the Ursula Burns era which was a bad as FB is today. Bob Nardelli at Home Depot was hated too. Got out with a nice golden parachute, like JY, and moved onto wreck other firms as well. So investigate the quality of a new job. I found a position but WiPro was a pure nightmare so got out fast.
