As a long time AERO procurement employee, just found out government procurement managers all received promotions to Director level. Shocking. We should be ashamed. NO SAP knowledge. NO leadership skills. Terrifying. How did we end up here? We never get better if we don't take ownership.

I'm a director. Why would I need to know SAP?
That is what my employees are for. My job is to think strategically and track the work they do. Those that can't meet my expectations will be gone.
I need to meet my metrics for my bonus.
(Not really a director but am well qualified wouldn't you say?)
Everyone w / same tittle, easier to layoff those higher pay when needed.
I don't understand why are you surprised especially if you say you are a "long time" employee. This has been going on for so many years. The company doesn't value talented or hard work employees. It's all about politics and being political to be able to get that promotion or bonus. It always surprises me those surveys they give out because everyone I talk to is not happy working at the company so where do all those positive results come from.
SYNDROME said it best..

I am sure this was the only way they could get a raise.
