What’s the cost of COBRA if someone quits? Assume not leaving for another company. So is it simply what I now pay plus whatever the company pays? Please share experience.

$635/month single, just a tick over employee+employer contributions.
EM's medical share is less than 60%.
So you could expect COBRA to be about double current.
ACA of course is not available everywhere.
In Texas, for example, isn't it prohibited and reportable by your neighbor?
COBRA is cr-p in all the extension of the word CR-P!
If you haven't yet, check into ACA in your area especially if you can have some control over your income in 2022. I planned on leaving this February and checked into both COBRA and ACA. With generous subsidy from the ACA of $1700/mth, I will be paying about $400/mth for a family of five versus about $2,200 for COBRA.
You've been paying plenty of taxes into the system, might as well see if you can benefit from it.
My cobra payment for the company was ~$2100 for a family of 4.
Most companies are paying between 70% and 90% of your insurance, depending on where you are, which plan you have, and whether it's for you alone, or for you and your family.
I think the last place I had to think about COBRA, I was paying about $470 as my portion, for my family. I seem to recall the COBRA prices were ~$2395
You are mostly correct. You pay what you normally pay plus what the company pays and a fee for the 3rd party company that administers the COBRA plan. I believe that fee is 1-3% of the total cost…can’t recall the exact number.
