Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

People outside of HON have no idea what's going on here

I don't know how, but HON has managed to keep its reputation intact on the outside. I've had many contractors I worked with on different projects tell me how lucky I am to work for HON and how lucky I must feel. I don't even bother to try and set them straight, what would be the point? But I am amazed at how good HON is about keeping up appearances. No wonder we're still able to hire despite everything.

They still have a reputation. The majority of the people. I still think it's being run like the old Honeywell.

@2lop: Just because you read an offhand comment on this site doesn't mean it's true.

@mdb,

Let me get this straight. Contractors get compensated well? Will Honeywell replace regular workers with higher paid contractors? I’m not following.

A regular employee is too expensive so Honeywell will get very well compensated contractors. Honeywell will replaced the regular workforce with a more expensive contract workforce.

What?

And if contractors are cheaper then how is that very well compensated compared to regular workers.

You’re tying me in knots here.

Contractors legally MUST be paid for every hour worked. I would gladly put 20% more time in if that was true for us chumps on salary.

Honeywell Corporate leaders job is to put out positive press all the time no matter what. But if things are really bad, there will come a time when they just can't hold back the "bending the truth" any longer. It will show up in stock price at some point. Right now Honeywell has convinced the big guys on WS that run the large funds that Honeywell is a great company doing great things. So they are all in the positive spin together. Most positive press comes out at tops, not bottoms. And no one rings a bell at tops, meaning the stock typically drops then afterwards you hear why.

@OP You notice it's contractors who make these comments?
We are treated (and compensated) very well.
That's why soon, a vast majority of HON work will be done by contractors.
All that insurance, vacation pay, holiday pay, sick time... you all get makes you too heavy of a burden. Severance is one and done.
Check with your contractors to find a job shop to sign up with.

Yea, companies know how to game the Glassdoor company review process to boost their ratings. I know from personal experience Honeywell does it.

Our CEO has an 82% approval rating on the Glassdoor site. Would anyone that works here believe that's actually true?

Failure to post on glassdoor. Need to overwhelm that site with factual reviews.
