How long will it take for Ascension to clinch their a** cheeks, suck up their pride, admit they failed AT and hire some secretaries to beg and plead for the loyal associates that grinded it out for 10+ years to come back?
HCL has no clue what deploying Symphony was like and apparently leadership doesn't remember. Just a matter of time. Being let go from that he-l ho-e was one of the best things that happened to me.

I only ask because HCL included a non-compete in their contrac with us. We can't work for Ascension or on an Ascension site 90 days from termination of the employee contract. If they toss HCL, they're tossing their FS staff....
Ditto the last comment. Ascension hospitals will always need deskside support regardless of who has the contract or if it is brought back in-house (AGAIN)!!!

Ascension laid the groundwork for “best shore” back in the early 2000’s. They never intended to fully support Network/Data/Voice operations, and their “catholic” values often collided with real world attitudes. They basically modeled the MSP to serve as a bailout to quickly take the money and run. They outsourced in 2007 and it was a disaster, resulting in a total reboot two years later. A lot of work went into rounding up the assortment of tribes (hospitals) into something that would work. Out of that came the Service Desk, Provisioning, Applications and the sort. The problem at the time (and continues to this date) was that every hospital wanted their own expensive incompatible service model. That drove up costs, resulted in a failed Symphony project, and pi---d of a lot of providers - Gerry should be fired solely for that performance. But it gets better! Ascension benefited greatly from Federal bailout money and from covid. What did Gerry do? Well - He called about two-thirds of his IT department and basically fired them. Yes it was MSP round 2 all packaged and ready to go. Walking out the door I remembered 2007 and gave round 2 two years. Guess what happened? Advent and Amita divorced, Wiggle and a few other tribes had uprisings, and the HCL contract is up for rebid. Ascension needs to call a Sev 2 on their operation, and hand the ticket over to HCL - They’re made for each other!

Trust me, there's no holding breath. I just foresee the future of Ascension being a lot like AT&T when they went through a very similar outsourcing situation a year or two prior to the Ascension layoff's. AT&T got so desperate, they hired staff just to call people to try and pull them out of retirement.

Ascension's brilliant plan in action to revoke vacation and get rid of any worker that is redundant. With this mentality they'll be down to one physician, one nurse, and one outsourced IT technician.

My understanding is this is correct, this model breaks for services that can't be performed remotely and require hands on support or when systems break down which the service desk couldn't normally fix.
The Doctors have already complained, so HCL has created a "premium service desk" for them. It's basically all the old AT service desk analysts and any American that man that desk. Not sure about any other departments.
Not until the doctors, nurses, and other clinicians get fed up with it. Also, when the individual ministries decide they have had more than enough and decide to leave Ascension. Until then, buck up buttercup!
4 years. I think I’m remembering correctly but the hcl contract is for 2 years with the option to extend it for a year twice written in.
