Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

When will layoffs start?

Isn't it about time for the first-quarter house cleaning?

I honestly can’t think of a quarter to where there wasn’t a rumor of a layoff. After a few years of it, you get numb to it.

I just heard a rumor of a 1,000 workforce reduction in GCT. I have not validated that yet, anybody else know about this? Especially why?

Good question. With higher interest rates leading into rising inflation its hard to say especially if it leads to a recession. We already keep selling off parts of the business. I just hope its just not done as a last resort to stay afloat. C has already been slammed to death on this board for giving away money so no use to bring that history up but that in itself is really bad for the bottom line. It’s not a great way to instill consumer confidence. I don’t think there were too many folks who did not get the vaccine. All this not to mention that the company has already lost quite a few folks due to the great resignation and we are at the bare bones now but still would not keep Citi from pulling the layoff trigger.

With all the folks that have left for other opportunities lately, and maybe some that have left or pushed out from vaccine mandate, I doubt there are any major layoffs planned.

Unless we have a reorg coming where some areas of the business are sold off or re prioritized greatly.
