Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Glad to be out

I'm recently retired. Thank God. I'm my last 2 years the place under the "leadership" of DA and MM went from a place where layoffs were feared to a place where layoffs were welcome.

My boss would not allow even a 1 minute conversation between employees. Everything was criticized. I'm curious, was my boss just doing what he was ordered to do? Is everyone else being micro-managed and second guessed too? Is lying to employees required? My boss went from saying "I'm not going to lie" to lying about a lot of thing.

There are no low level mgrs.. everyone is a "senior" mgr.
Or in the case of aero defense i guess that would be mayor mgr.

I was a manager before I left. I was yelled at consistently from my director about yield and EEI. Even putting it my reviews that it wasn't delivering what other managers were.

Then he sent out, perhaps without knowing it, the yield/EEI of all managers and teams under him. My team was the highest (for years), and I worked more hours than most other managers.

The point here is that your manager is getting the same pressure that you are. And it rolls down hill. In retrospect, I would say 20-30% of low level managers are hired to be eventual sacrificial lambs when they need scapegoats for failing to meet numbers.

I would say 90% of the first line bosses are genuine and are put in a bad spot. First line bosses usually have no insight into the real behind the scenes discussions, they just get stuck having to disseminate the censored flow down they receive and deal with the repercussions while leadership hides.
