I’m just trying to do my job and not think much about the direction this company is going. However, I can’t help but notice that there is a lack of people who can come up with fresh ideas. Without new ideas, I think it the company will inevitably sink. ATT is terribly stuck in the past.
Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone will come here with new, fresh ideas?
New ideas? Patents and Licenses …. More than 20,000. But if you don’t know….I guess you’d make comments like these. Reading is fundamental.
The problem here is that the newness of an idea isn't what makes it good. AT&T doesn't suffer from a lack of new ideas (becoming a media company was a fresh, new, and very bad idea), it suffers from bad ideas and a lack of strategic direction.

The leadership of this company couldn't manage a 2 ho-e outhouse in an Ex-Lax factory much less come up with any new ideas.

It was the 'fresh' ideas that hurts T every time. Here is an idea, get the train back on the tracks and be the best in Wireless and Broadband. Lower costs down by reducing all the unnecessary work and finally get the headcount to where it should be. Why are the 4th and 5th level headcounts increasing 60% when the company is getting smaller? Managers still think they have to grow their organizations to justify their positions. We should have $180bil in the bank instead of $180bil in debt.
in spite of all of the "take risks, fail fast, etc etc" rhetoric, in reality new ideas are discouraged at AT&T.
Ihx was a new idea that is now 3,000+ employees strong. How about you think of a good idea

Here some honest advice youngster and ambitious. Want your ideas to resonate and account for something? quit this job and hook up with a start up firm. This place is thick in bureaucratic processes and your ideas will never make it. unless of course you know somebody 4th level and above but their too busy fulfilling their own agendas. Do not waste your time get a side hustle and start your own company?
Here's a few.

Fly low.
Smile and wave.
Stop caring. They don't.
They hate you.
Try to run them out of money.
