Free coffee from all the break room areas except for the executives floors. The excess had all the beverages snacks and candy for free. Supposedly the CFO said free coffee costs the company $2 Million per Year(Linder CFO over wireless). So then what you had was a non stop flow to the cafeteria probably taking extra 10 minutes everyday or more people sitting in drive thrus wasting time. Managing quarter to quarter to hit a number with zero long term vision. Same thing with their acquisitions. On paper it is a quick uplift but things never works out, they blow up and entity in the process and then abandon ship quickly. Doesnt hit the income statement as much but wreaks havoc on the balance sheet. The effects of T-Mobile, DTV, and TWX will be around for a long time. Just hope that Stanley doesn’t have another Synergy Grand Plan Acquisition up his sleeve. You know Wall Street Bankers are feeding him their ideas constantly. Their fees go to the balance sheet so they don’t count in Stanley’s world.

When SBC bought us back in 2006 they stopped paying for the water cooler but we kept it anyway and and paid for it ourselves but you had to be a member of the “water club” the tap water in the building tasted like my swimming pool but of course it was tested and passed with flying colors. I also remember CRE selling off all the parking spaces in the back of the C/O to the building next store. Needless to say the parking there now is a nightmare
Yep. I remember free coffee and a steal-a-snack box. Also my company paid for shirts and pants were laundered weekly by Cintas. Came back all fresh and pressed. 1999.
I remember when the CO that i worked in had no backup cooling units because they were being so cheap. The working one failed and the overheating (90+ degrees) damaged over a million dollars of equipment, $20,000 cards started failing prematurely.
After we were bought by sbc, I had to buy my own pens for a long time.
We had a 2nd level who told the business office of a hundred+ people they could no longer use company water to water any plants they ad on their desks. Thy had to bring it from home.
I cr@p you not.
This was 15 years ago..and AT&T is still the same.
They also came in to the office I worked at and took out every other light bulb. Said the light was too much and some government regulation said light only had to be so much. So they had a maintenance guy come by each floor with a light tester and pull light bulbs if the luminescence was over a certain number.
Then when people started bringing in lamps for their desk they had facilities come by in the middle of the night and steal the lights off people's desk and lock them up in a room. Same with fans and heaters. People were so mad they called the police and filed theft reports. There were so many calls that the town police chief came out and talked the facilities person over the building and "suggested" giving back people's personal property before he started arresting people for theft.
I remember 18 years ago when Stankey told IT they couldn’t have company funded headsets and needed to find solutions that weren’t on the company dime. The actual message he wrote was far more nasty than that, too.
I remember when SBC bought BLS - they SBC'ers said - wow you have pens - can we take some?!? The only good thing about the collaboration zones is the free coffee.
In the beginning , we had coffee, tea, condiments, cups, paper plates - everything one needed in a break room / lunch room. Then when the death star and vader took over in 06, well that got put down like old yeller. Everything got removed and the hiring practices changed as well. We went from hiring qualified candidates to a quota system. Then the crime showed up as well. Theft in cubicles, vehicles broken into, people getting served, cat fights. Total jerry springer environment. And here we are today.
Man, were you drinking when you posted this dribble? A bunch of meandering nonsense that only makes sense to someone who’s sitting next to you on a bar stool! Whew!
Do you people sit on your pity pot 24/7 daily trying to come up with your whine-fest? For Pete’s sake, cut the ‘Woe Is Me’ show! Free coffee? Really? That’s what you’re complaining about here, on a layoff board? Sickening
Just another over the top Bennie that T no longer provides. What will Santone cut next?
That is another $2M to go into the Stink's pocket. S C R E W you, you little people.
All Hail the Stink! The P R I CK !
Stankey saves the goodies for his Stinklets now a days. No free coffee for you.
