Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Bye Bye Direct TV. I got a call from my

Home insurance provider All State. Apparently ATT wanted to add a surcharge to my All State premiums of $50 monthly. All State told them they couldn’t do that. I thought it was outrageous that they even tried.

They were just trying to help you; I don't understand why you would object to that.

DirecTV is a great service, and a surcharge to your insurance is a convenient way to pay for it.

This place has been ruined since it started to be run by CFO mindset (Randall). After 9/11 (2001) they banned simple water bottles in meetings (forget about coffee) -- at that time Google was providing free food 24x7 to employees. Rather than grow company along core areas, they imagined growing "revenue" through acquisitions (DirectTV, Warner) was sign of leadership. Their funding model is arcane .. couldn't figure out how to fund new opportunities. HR and Finance still operate with pre-Internet mindset. Ed was a great leader -- but for sure he regrets nominating Randall as his successor (says so in his book).
