Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Layoff would be a relief for me

For me, this now feels like a totally different company from the one I started working for. There has always been a lot of work to do, but this is unbearable now. People are under such pressure that many agree to less lucrative options, just to get out of here. I used to worry about not being cut, but I think now for most people layoff would actually serve as a relief?

Something many don't understand, HR exists for the benefit of the Corporation NEVER EVER for the benefit of the employee.

In the accounting world, employees are a liability and therefore need to be managed, which is HR job.

Just fake everything you do. I never volunteer for anything, some brownnoser will jump all over it. I always make it look like i am busy but never really are. I few if us schedule each other in meetings that never actually happen but its on the shared calendar. I just work the system and collect my pay check. Who cares about this place.

Bullying is rampant at CVE. Alex says he doesn’t stand for any of it but that doesn’t trickle down. If you raise the issue with HR all they do is talk to your VP, who talks to the manager or director you are having issues with and it comes right back to you. It’s all a big joke but the sad thing is the jokes on us.

Alex expects us to talk to HR, but the HR person doesn’t care about the employees, they care about impressing the various VPs so they get good feedback and get promoted. So they work with the VP to bury it all. Look at all the senior level HR folks and how well that’s worked out for them all. They seem to be doing pretty good for themselves.

Alex,
Some free advice here. Until HR acts like it cares about the employees no one will trust them. Don’t tell us to go talk to our HR person with our concerns when we don’t know them. The teams change HR people like a baby changes diapers, frequently. I couldn’t even tell you who our HR person has been for the last 5 years, never met a one of them, never seen one in a team meeting, or anything like that. If you have any request you go through the service desk to make it even more impersonal if that’s even possible. If you call them they don’t ever pick up their phones or teams calls. Ever.

You want to improve HR? let the employees rate and give feedback on their HR person. Not just the VPs or managers. Maybe then they would make an effort.

If Cenovus offered packages they would likely have 50% take them
