Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Anyone else expecting a Jelly-of-the-Month Certificate in lieu of a bonus?

Starting to feel like TVC (total variable compensation) is just a fancy way of saying everyone’s getting jack squat this year…

Tip of the cap for the OP's jelly/Clark Griswold reference -- here's the epic rant:

"Hey! If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-scking, dog-kissing, brainless, dckless, hopeless, heartless, fat-a-s, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shi*t he is! Hallelujah"

Assuming you’re not deadweight and get performing or above, the money this year is better than the last 5

TVC is how they are going to take expenses out of the back office.

Most of us get jack squat ever year. You must feel special. You’re not.

Deferred Comp is not based on level in company or officer title designation. Those highly compensated are eligible - strictly based on income and roles with high commission and/or RSUs have more reason to leverage this benefit.

Does anyone know what the job title requirements are for being eligible for deferred comp?

This is going to be the start of the trend of top performers getting handsomely rewarded and the deadweight getting nothing

Not a good time to be deadweight

I think TVC in general might look pretty good for everyone. This year. This would lull the doubters into a false sense of security and slow the departures to a manageable trickle while Charlie continues culling the cult at his preferred pace.

Next year, however, BAM!

Members of a team have different strengths and weaknesses. There is no way to compare two people in our types of jobs. Maybe a comparison could be made of workers in a factory boxing chocolates.

There is not even a "Jelly of the month certificate". Just nasty comments from a Manager comparing a less experienced employee to the most experienced employee on the team.
Get "yelled at" by the Manager because you are not equivalent to the most experienced person on the team. So demotivating it is.

Forced ranking leads to lack of ambition to keep on trying to be a good employee.
Trying so hard to do a good job, but it is NEVER good enough, compared to the people who are more experienced. Depressing. No hope. Wasting your time. Nothing to look forward to. Always negative reviews. Want to leave and get a job where your talents are actually appreciated and not compared to other employees who have much more experience and years of service.

No bonus, or raise, anymore leaves the employee open to other options for better employment opportunities elsewhere. Comparing employees on the team to the top, most experienced employees, year after year, is a "dead end". Always "Needs Improvement". No way to advance from that perspective. How will the less experienced employee ever get more skills than the most experienced team member(s) and then supersede their achievements? Always in the "pit". Forever "doomed".

If we're really good boys and girls, they might upgrade it to include a loaf of bread with the jelly!

Less than meets, you will get squat
Meets, you will get similar to last year, but depending on LOB could be 10% higher than last year
Above meets, you will get rewarded….will get 20-40% higher than last year
