Webster’s essential meaning of ‘bias’: ‘a tendency to believe that some people, ideas, etc., are better than others that usually results in treating some people unfairly’
Take one (Sept 2020):
Commented that there is ‘a very limited pool of Black talent to recruit from’.
Led to the following apology: ‘…insensitive comment reflecting my own unconscious bias’.
Take two (Jan 2022):
On teams:
‘…I’ve got two daughters…they’ve got many tremendous qualities; being part of a sports team is not one of them’.
Webster’s primary definition of a team: ‘a number of persons associated together in work or activity’.
So the association with ‘sports’ seems distinctly willful / self-serving / inappropriate.
On team members:
‘…joining this company, it felt like a cult…’
‘…I don’t want to be mandated to use certain words…’. Well, no one mandated you use the ‘c’ word.
Webster’s primary definition of a cult: ‘a religion regarded as unorthodox or spurious’
As per Yogi Berra: ‘It's like deja-vu, all over again’.
Sorry (not sorry?) if I misspoke.
