Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Transform to a software and technology company

Honeywell had a huge layoff in 2020 due to covid (big excuse). Then less than a year later they were telling the press they were doing everything possible to try to hire people but were struggling to find qualified applicants. If that were true, it is really pathetically bad planning and knowledge of the industry. How do you have a layoff and then complain about hiring so soon after. Really stupid or a lie. It was an opportunity to work the corporate plan - get rid of the thorn in their side - US based people - and transform to a software and technology company with lots of offshore workers and a small office in the US (that plan is really gonna be great).

I agree with every word of this post. What I'm not sure about, or find it hard to believe, is that their plan is to slowly transform Honeywell into a software and technology company?

Next for connected is more CTOs from a specific geo location to further breakdown morale….
Why do we keep doing the same mistake over and over again?

Does it run on the 1990 version of Parallel network operating system?
We've been trying to bring in new equipment but thats what came on those old distributed industrial controllers.
Pretty much the same across honeywell.
Outdated old dics running thermal chambers and cnc machines.

HBT is also fully onboard with uSHIT.

As someone else mentioned this has been going on for years(atleast 6 years). Atlanta office has been open for almost 4/5 years which is the HQ for this transformation. Get up with the modern times, adapt and learn new skillsets. There's no money in hardware(1 time purchase that lasts for a long time), everything is turning into subscription services(MSFT, Apple, Google, Amazon examples) because it makes more profit and more use cases to sell to customers. Even if there was money in hardware all those jobs would be in China, India or Mexico and not in the US so you would still be out of job either way.

So far they aren’t selling much software. And the only software they sell is for their proprietary hardware…. So probably not going to be a success right?

Where are the sales??
