Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Maybe they have good intentions, but it's painful when management talks about diversity

I mean, do they see themselves in the mirror? 9 white men and 3 white women. Diverse interns? There's plenty of diversity at the lowest level. Just f-ing try to treat people equally.
Who do you scapegoat and who do you find excuses for, the white guy or the person who looks different from you or has a different background?
How about the people you try to pull into your little cliques. The people you gossip with and the people you gossip about. The people you spend time with. The people you give genuine appreciation and the people you make something up about and give fake compliments or sarcasm to. The people you agree with and the people you casually put down.

And don't f ing just hire a couple of nice tokens and call it a day.

Ya know, simple tips like that.

My favourite are the town hall when the inevitable D&I question comes in. Management stutters abs stumbles as they search for something to respond with. It’s embarrassing

The closest thing you will see to diversity in upper management is the concept of hiring all white women that you were friends with at a former company. Executive diversity basically equals hiring white women so they can check a box off.

The lower pay grades at AIG are already diverse at least in my department. Upper management forces that so they can avoid being diverse in pay grades above 25. Look at the org charts.

There are no good intentions. Nothing is done without a photo op or virtue signaling. Equality and diversity at AIG simply means saying the right things, hire a couple of tokens and make marketing videos to show how much you care. The day to day optics of the company never change, only the rhetoric.
