Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why are most of the people who work here so bitter?

Just look at the majority of replies (and a good part of posts as well) and you'll know what I mean. Every post gets snide remarks, every replies section turns into a pit of insults. Why? Just because XOM treats you like cr-p and with no respect doesn't mean you should be treating your coworkers the same way. I guess working here really does bring out the worst in people.

If you think this board is a representation of "most people", you need to rethink things.

This is what management wants, us distracted and fighting against each other. Otherwise we would be united and clearly focused on the failed and corrupt leadership.

After what the company did in the last year and a half, the only way you wouldn’t say something nasty is if your mouth is too stuffed with RSUs.

OP, this is a forum for the disaffected. People that want to talk about good news should go somewhere else;

We are ExxonMobil! Touching my heart, it is sad that co-workers are using Facebook or LinkedIn to display their love for the company. We all know it is done to show their managers.

I am disgusted. But whatever it takes to survive right? The content of their post, I can imagine many working hours spent on typing them.

The company culture is simply pathetic. Put in simple words EM is all about a lot of hog washing, rewarding some of the worst behaviors and bullying from top to down.

This leads to anyone at the company who is not upset about their “real” professional contribution and career “or lack there of” is a mental case and a toxic person to be around - probably sitting in management or actively checking management only check boxes.

This is the reason for the truth of negativity to be in so much abundance when threat and bullying is not a concern in an anonymous website

The real truth is that everyone is resigning to go be closer to their family. There are no issues at ExxonMobil. The people are our greatest asset. We are ExxonMobil!

A lot of people who can't secure their seat in the good ol' boys club. Wanna-be hi-pos. Pathetic.

What do you do when people have an outlet where they can speak uncensored, unlike the workplace, and you can’t shut down that outlet? Russia pioneered this path in the last two decades. Troll farms poison any meaningful discussion and discredit any honest criticism. Any posting board turns into a cesspool and reasonable people loose interest. It’s an easy lesson to learn.

I think it’s the same five people posting here non-stop. My personal favorite is Mr. Hi-po basher / brown nose comment guy. His schtick is so tired.

These people don’t work for XOM…they’re trolls.

Dude it’s an anonymous board. You don’t even know that the people replying actually work here. Trolls love this type of forum. You are ignorant if you base your perception on the XOM employee population from comments on this site.

Because XOM treats you like cr-p and with no respect.

Because people can vent out their frustration here anonymously...the work culture at EM doesn't allow you to do and discuss it openly, because people are afraid of the consequences of their own career.....that's what happened when you work in toxic work culture environment...indirectly the toxicity get to you...it is up to you how much you want to consume..even if you try to avoid it, you might still some traces of contamination :p
